We won't- until we all can.

NMB Wins $500 Grant from DoSomething.org

A few weekends ago, Executive Team member Laura Wadden won $500 in a speed-pitching contest at the
DoSomething.org Social Action Bootcamp
! Wadden spoke eloquently about the important work that we do, and her enthusiasm paid off.

DoSomething.org's speed-pitching contest entailed two minutes of pitching to an adult volunteer and two minutes of feedback. DoSomething.org tallied the ratings and Wadden scored the highest! As a reward, Wadden earned a $500 grant for National Marriage Boycott and a chance to present NMB to a room of almost 200 people.

"It was exhilirating to speak to a room full of people passionate about social change," Wadden said of her experience. "Everyone was so excited about the work that we are doing, so it was great to share it with so many people!"

The contest came at the end of a long day of trainings, provided free of charge by DoSomething.org. The Social Action Bootcamps offer training sessions on everything from Political Activism to Visual Storytelling, and Executive Team members Sarah Masimore, Kenzie Seal and Wadden gained many skills from the day.

"The bootcamp helped me learn more about how to recruit and develop new volunteers," Masimore said. "I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to develop vital organizing skills."

DoSomething.org is an organization that leverages communications technologies to enable young people to convert their ideas and energy into action. Read more about DoSomething.org's work here and here to learn more about upcoming bootcamps.
