Generation No H8

gen*er*a*tion no H8noun – new activists who feel a deep, emotional connection to Prop 8, and are now working towards full federal equality. Judge Walker’s decision was an especially meaningful victory for Generation No H8.

Not many people know this, but I came out shortly after Proposition 8 passed in November of 2008. That makes it…

NMB Joins the Fight for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act

This past Tuesday, July 27, NMB Executive Team members Laura Wadden, Kenzie Seal and Emily Livermore rallied in favor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Passing ENDA would protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers from workplace discrimination.

Discrimination against any member of the gay community hurts us all, so NMB is committed to standing with those pushing to get… Continue

DOMA decisions, demystified

On Thursday, we posted the news that U.S. District Court Judge Joseph L. Tauro ruled in two separate cases that section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. The cases are a bit confusing (we were confused, too!), so we took some time to break them down.

As far as the implications for NMB, these decisions do not… Continue

U.S. District Court Judge rules Section 3 of DOMA Unconstitutional

Today, U.S. District Court Judge Joseph L. Tauro ruled that section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional!

Love knows no color, no size, no hate no creed, so why is it judged so harshly? I love my partner with all my heart. She completes me. After a 20 yr marriage that was loveless and hateful my heart was in ashes, she revived my heart from the ashes, showed me love, a family and what it is like to have support. I want to give her the gift of marriage that I will always be hers, that we can become any obsticle no matter what comes our way. I also have to think of the girls, They love her, They don't want to go to their father. If we had the same equal right I wouldn't have to worry about the girls, because if something happened to me they would be with her.

I just wanted to say that it is not just people in same sex unions, who have issues with the instituiton of marriage. I can marry if I want I just do not believe to be a family I NEED to be married. My "husband" feels the same, yet if something were to happen to either of us our children would not get the "married " benefit from their parents. I think boycotting marriage is an awesome idea.
