Why are you boycotting marriage?
I am boycotting marriage because I believe that taking away the rights of any people for any reason is unconstitutional. I am appalled at the vehemence religious groups and opponents of gay marriage exhibit towards an idea that in no way would ever change the meaning of marriage for them. Their arguments against gay marriage (that it would confuse the children, that it takes away THEIR rights, etc.) are ridiculous and they are being intolerant, and that should not be encouraged by our government. We can not change the fact that some people will always think homosexuality is against "God's will," but we can change this attitude being forced upon people who do not agree. I stand proudly by my gay friends and family members and I will fight for their rights, because it is not right that marriage should be allowed to be the sort of "straight-couples only club" that it currently is.
