Why Gender Neutral Marriage is Important, From a Transboy's Perspective

So when I found out about the Supreme Court’s verdict on Proposition 8, I decided to cut my personality psychology class and help out with an anti-Prop 8 rally that was going to happen at noon. My freshman year roommate Molly and I were making signs for the rally. While we were painting, Molly asked me, “If you’re transgender, are you still able to get married?"I had never really thought about it. I had always seen Prop 8 as my fight. Not necessarily from a gay woman’s perspective, but from a…See More

Meet in the Middle for Equality

Today was Meet in the Middle for Equality in Fresno, California, and it was so inspiring. What an experience to see so many open-minded and activist people coming together in one place to make a difference. The speakers, including Dan Choi, T.R. Knight, and Christine Chavez, as well as our very own Chrystanthe Tan, spoke passionately for marriage equality. I was especially touched by a 13 year old speaker, Emery Hannon, who pointed out that while people who are against gay marriage say they are… Continue

NMB In The News

National Marriage Boycott was mentioned in the Palo Alto Daily. According to Jessica Bernstein-Wax, a staff writer,

"Gay rights groups held rallies throughout the Peninsula on Tuesday after the state Supreme Court ruled 6-1 to uphold a ban on same-sex marriage.

About 200 students gathered on the Stanford campus in the afternoon to protest the decision, and more crowds were expected at evening protests in San Mateo and Palo Alto.

'The takeaway message is that sometimes… Continue

NMB Featured in The Guardian

Yesterday's protest at Stanford University, organized by the Emma Goldman Society for Queer Liberation and National Marriage Boycott, was featured in the British-based Guardian, one of the most celebrated liberal newspapers in the world.

Author Sarah Wildman writes,

"'I'm disappointed, but not surprised,' said Sarah Masimore, 20, a sophomore (second year) student at Stanford University who was out protesting against the gay marriage ban on campus today. 'The judicial… Continue
