National Marriage Boycott

We won't- until we all can.

Starting a Branch

How to get involved: 1. Sign the pledge. 2. Wear the Equality Ring. 3. Start a branch.

About the National Marriage Boycott
National Marriage Boycott is youth-led grassroots movement determined to create a world where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can live with dignity and security. As a coalition of allies and LGBTQ people, we usher in a national culture of acceptance by pledging not to marry until there is full federal marriage equality. Members wear an Equality Ring as a public symbol of this pledge.

How do I get involved?

1. Sign the pledge to boycott marriage.

2. Get an Equality Ring to publicly show your support.

3. Start a branch to advocate for full federal equality.

Starting a branch
Branches can range from simply spreading the word to selling Equality Rings to hosting informational sessions and other creative events. Most NMB branches are at high schools and universities and are run through existing GSA's or other LGBTQ-friendly on-campus group. Click here to check out the existing NMB branches. By partnering with NMB, GSA's can advocate for equal rights while also fundraising for other projects. Here is a general overview of how you can get involved:

1. Email our branch manager, Miranda (miranda@nationalmarriageboycott.com) your name and location. She'll help you get started and add you to our official branch lists

2. Spread the Word - Talk to your friends and family about NMB, write notes on Facebook, email your lists, and put up flyers.

3. Sell Equality Rings - Branch leaders can get Equality Rings in bulk at $5 each, intended to be sold at $10 each. Profits can be used to fund projects for your branch, to get more Equality Rings, or to donate to your favorite non-profit.

4. Put on an Event - Informational sessions or other creative events are a great way to spread the word and sell Equality Rings. You can find useful materials here.

5. Help repeal DOMA - Get your branch to call and write to members of Congress asking them to cosponsor the Respect for Marriage Act.
