What is the goal of the National Marriage Boycott?
Our goal is to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) so that
committed same-sex couples can have their relationships recognized
by the government and receive the 1,137 federal-level rights that
state-level marriages lack.
What do I have to do to take part?
Sign our online pledge not to get married until everyone can get
married (DOMA is repealed). Wear one of our rings as a symbol of
your commitment to marriage equality on your ring finger (left
hand) until the day DOMA is repealed. Want to do more?
Contact
your representative or
start your own NMB Branch.
I'm married. How can I show my support?
If you are already married, you can still show your support. We ask
that you sign our online pledge. We also ask that you replace your
wedding band with our National Marriage Boycott ring or wear both
rings until the day DOMA is repealed.
How long do you expect the boycott to last?
Repealing DOMA is one of President Obama's campaign promises and
was originally on the White House website as part of his civil
rights agenda . If we show our commitment to marriage equality by
abstaining from the current discriminatory marriage system, we can
expect the government to repeal DOMA in the next few years, before
the next election. It all depends on how visibly we demonstrate the
popular support for marriage equality.
How do I get a ring?
You can place an individual order online, or buy from your local
NMB branch.

area.
The ring I ordered ended up being too large/small. Can I
exchange it for another?
Yes. We are happy to exchange your ring for another - just send the
ring back to the return address on the original envelope and
include a check for $3.28 to cover shipping and handling. For our
complete exchange and return policy,

Can I wear the ring on a chain around my neck instead of on my
finger?
Yep!
Do I have to buy a ring? Can I make my own to save
money?
The goal of our campaign is not to make money through selling
rings. All proceeds go to funding this and other LGBTQ rights
projects. You can absolutely choose to use your own ring. However,
it will be harder for people to tell you are part of the National
Marriage Boycott if you have another ring, which may decrease the
impact of your commitment.
I am interested in creating a branch of the National Marriage
Boycott at my school, business or organization. How do I do
that?
There are four easy steps:
1. Create an account on this website.
2. Create a 'group' on this website for your school, business or
organziation.
3.
Email
Sarah, our National Recruitment Manager to get a copy of the
Boycotter's Cookbook.
4. Organize. Connect with existing LGBTQ and human rights groups to
get the word out at your school, business or organization and
others in your area. We also have a
support
team to help at each step.
