Hi, my name is [your name], and I am from [insert school and/or location]. I am calling today to ask you to stand against discrimination by cosponsoring the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

Currently, it is legal in 29 states to fire someone for being gay, lesbian, or bisexual and in 38 states for being transgender. This is unacceptable. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act would end this injustice by making workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression illegal.

Please speak out against LGBTQ discrimination by cosponsoring the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Thank you.

The Honorable [full name of member of Congress]

[Room #] [Name] [Building]

United States [House of Representatives or Senate]

Washington, DC [ZIP code]

Dear Representative [Congressman’s last name],

We are writing you today from [insert school and/or location] to ask you to stand against LGBTQ discrimination by cosponsoring the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. As members of the National Marriage Boycott, a youth- led grassroots organization, we stand behind legislation to end the social and legal injustices facing the LGBTQ community.

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act would make it illegal to discriminate in the workplace on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. The fact that it is legal in 29 states to fire someone for being gay, lesbian, or bisexual and in 38 states for being transgender is absolutely unacceptable.

Please speak out against this discrimination by cosponsoring the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and we appreciate your support for equality.

Sincerely,

[Your name.]
